Elswick Harriers Road Race Report:

This was our last every junior race for Morpeth Harriers and it turned out to be another solid performance and victory.  Helped out by Nathan finishing in a class 4th, Gareth in 6th and Andrew in 7th we won the team contest by almost as many points as we got.

The photo shows Nathan past the half way point of the 2.25 mile course around the new Newcastle Business Park at Lemington.  The brand new course for 2003 was certainly a great, flat, fast course which made the race fast and furious from the start (well...after the race starter had blown his wistle about 8 times - long story)

The placings during the race didn't change much, Nathan led the Morpeth team from the gun (sorry whistle...) with Gareth, Andrew then Chris and A. Wood - as it finished.  The weather was boiling, well into the 20's (thats like 70 sumin for the oldies...) which took its toll on a few of the runners with two collapsing on the way round.

Well...what more can we say?  We've dominated throughout this season as under 17's, winning almost everything which we entered - we say almost cause we have had the odd off day but thay certainly were odd.  The next major race sees Andrew and Gareth head to head over 10 miles - aiming for sub 60 minutes - but we'll have to see how it goes...(Cramlington - Blyth 27th April 2003)

So thats that. Completo, Finito - keep yours eyes open for the www.morpeth.tk vest at forthcumin races as we draw the curtain over the junior races and turn our focus to beetin George Routledge at the big boys races...!
